GISBORNE BURGLARIES.

■i « FLEAS OF GUILTY TO TWO OFFENCES. FURTHER CHARGES PENDING. GISBORNE, Saturday. Three shops at Gisborne were broken into last Tuesday night and money was stolen. Attempts were made also to enter three other shops. Yesterday morning the post office at Tc Araroa and the offices of the Matakaoa County Council were broken into. Later in the day John Schofield, alias Jones, was arrested at Te Araroa and charged with the two last-named offences. He pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Accused was brought to Gisborne today. He will be charged with breaking and entering and theft at Gisborne and with attempted breaking and entering. He will also be charged with escaping from Wi Tako prison camp, Wellington.
