BABIES BURNED.
NURSING HOME FIRE. Heroic But Vain Rescue Effort of Firemen. THREE DEATHS RECORDED. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright* (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON. March 18. ' Two firemenj finding it impossible to enter the room by means of their ladder, donned gas masks and fought their way through a blazing upstairs dormitory of the Wilde Oak House, a Taunton nursing home, and snatched four infants from burning cots. The men collapsed outside with their burdens. Three of the infants died, and the fourth, though badly burned, may recover. The firemen were sent to hospital. Nurses in their night attire and boys from an adjacent school assisted in the rescue of 29 other children. One nurse was injured, and the matron .collapsed from shock.
