WOMEN'S RIGHTS.
Plea to Retain Nationality on Being Married. WORLD ACTION NEEDED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 18. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Arthur Henderson, and the Under-Secretary to the Home Office, Mr. A. Short, received a deputation of women members of Parliament from, all parties who asked that the Government should facilitate the passage of the Nationality of Married Women Bill. Mr. Henderson said the Government fully sympathised with the principle that women should not be required to change their nationality without their own _eon- .• ent on being married. The Council of the League of Nations in January had decided that the question of the nationality of married women should be placed on "the agenda for the next meeting of the Assembly and had expressed the hope that an international agreement on the question would be reached. If substantial progress was not made at Geneva, Mr. Henderson suggested that the women's organisations, after the meeting of the Assembly, should request the Government to introduce legislation.
