BAY OF PLENTY SHIELD.

The match for the Bay of Plentv Shield was shot for On the Itangitaiki rang.* at Thornton on Tuesday in good weather, when some very good scores were recorded Opotiki Club retaining the shield by two points from Tauranga. Oliver (Tauranga) made the most points. Shooting at 500vds was comparatively good, but at GOOvds "the wind got up and was very changeable. Conditions were 10 shots at each ,"500 and GOOyds. WAIRARAPA CHAMPIONSHIP,

CARTERTON, Wednesday. The Wairarapa championship rifle meeting was opened at Papawai to-day in bright, sunny weather. The entries were about 30 per cent fewer than last year. A light varying breeze and a tricky mirage kept the shooters guessing. As the day progressed the wind strengthened slightly, but "finally died away. The chief prize-winner was W. X. Mascfiekl (Blenheim), who won the championship with an aggregate score of 239. B. W. Wrigley (Opaki) was second with 237, and H. Simmonds (Auckland), third with 232. The B grade aggregate was won by J. Sigvertsen (Tararua), with 230. Simmonds with 46 won £1 in the Wellington match, 600 yards, and £1 10/ in the Dominion match, 000 yards, with 4S.
