DECLARATION OF HANDICAPS

The North Shore Amateur Swimming Club will hold a carnival at tlie Tepid Baths to-night. A varied and attractive programme of 49 events, including two Auckland championships, has been drawn up, and some splendid rac&s should be seen. A water polo match between Parnell and North Shore is set down for decision. A feature of the rrigiit will be the attempt by Gordon Bridson to break the 100 metres New Zealand record of 04 2-5s at present held by A. Adamson. LIFE-SAVING EVENTS.

AUCKLAND CENTRE MEETING, Af.fl meeting of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Life-saving Society last night, Mr. A. Messrs. M. B. Champion, J. D. Foster and K. C. Reid were appointed judges for the land drill competition for the Pirate Shippe Plate, to be held on March 15. It was also decided to hold a four-man surf championship, for a trophy to be donated by Mr. K. Laidlaw, at Takapuna Beach during *iext month, the fastest beltman of any competing team to receive a gold medal from the centre.
