GOLDEN WEDDING.
MR. AND MRS. J. WEST
The golden wedding was celebrated to-day of Mr. and Mrs. John West, of Hutchinson Avenue, Grey Lynn. Mr. West was the eldest son of Mr. Joshua West, of Laisterdykem, and his wife was the second daughter of Mr. Henry 1 Midgley, of Bierley. They were married at St. John's Church, Bierley, Pradford, and they came to New Zeak:::cl by the steamer Triumph in 1883. The steamer was afterwards wrecked on Tiritiri Island, .outside Auckland Harbour. Mr. West became Avell known in Auckland as a musician, being bandmaster of the Newton Band until it was merged as a territorial band. He was at one time bandmaster of the City Band, and for ten years was secretary of the Yorkshire Society in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. West have three children, Mrs. N. M. Russell, of Shaw Street, Kingsland; Mr. P. M. West, auditor for the Government Life Insurance Office at Wellington; and Mr. John H.West,of- Grey ; Lynn, •
