SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

GALA AT MOUNT EDEN. VERY SUCCESSFUL NIGHT. BRIDSON RETAINS 50 YARDS TITLE. The second seasonal carnival held by the Mount Eden Club at the local baths last night was excellent. A large and enthusiastic crowd was in attendance, events were varied and well contested, and the meeting well conducted. The Mount Eden Boys' Band gave selections. There were several events of particular interest, the chief centre of attraction being the 50 yards Auckland championship, which G. Bridson again carried off, and thus retained the title. The finish was very close, Bridson getting home by half a yard. W. Hassan ani.exed the Auckland diving championship, with H. Neale second.

In the Stevenson Shield relay for primary schools Kowhai succeeded in retaining the trophy, but were hard pushed to do so by Curran Street school. The Mount Eden Club diving championship went to R. Frankham, who performed very creditably. •W. Hassan will lie Included in the Auckland team to compete in the senior championship at Wanganui on March 4. He will be the diving representative.
