CHEMISTS CONVICTED.

DID NOT CLOSE AT SIX O'CLOCK

SALE OF FANCY GOODS,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, Monday. Two Grey mouth chemists, L. F. Hogg and Williams and Ross were proceeded against by the inspector of factories in the Magistrate's Court for a breach of the Shops and Offices Act. They were charged that, as tlicy were not carrying on business exclusively as chemists, they failed to close their shops from 6 p.m. The point raised was whether fancy goods, including clocks and bead necklaces, were toilet requisites. The magistrate, Mr. Meldrum, to-day decided that necklaces, being used in connection with dressing, could be classed as toilet requisites, but the clocks should not be exposed for sale after hours. Defendants were convicted and ordered to pay costs.
