The Railway Department, in conjunction with the launch proprietors, is running one of its popular trips from Whangarei to Russell and back next Sunday. Particulars are advertised. The blue coat worn by butchers originated from its being the colour of the. uniform of a guild; but_ its almost universal adoption by the trade is owing to the fact that blood stains show less on that colour/than on any other. The saying, "True blue will never stain"— a really noble heart will not disgrace itself—has reference to the fact that blue does not show stains. Eendells end of season sale starts on Wednesday. For full'price'listings- read, to-morrow's "Star" and derate." Udjj
