WOOL TRADE.
WELLINGTON SALE
A GOOD CLEARANCE,
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Friday. • The Wellington wool sale proceeded along the lines of the opening catalogue, and resulted in a satisfactory clearance. Compared with January prices in Wellington, the chairman of the Woolbrokers Association, Mr. J. B. Moodie, said that prices for good crossbreds .were fully firm, and at times in sellers' favour. Medium to low crossbreds showed but little change, but these also could be fairly quoted as fully firm, and sold generally in favour of the seller. Halfbreds and Merinos were offered in small quantities, and these wools could be quoted at a halfpenny a pound better than the prices they realised at «,ae Wellington sale of last month. Bellies and pieces were dearer . to-day than at the January sale, advancing by a farthing to a halfpenny. were very short supply, consequently they were in strong demand, the French and German competition for such wools being most pronounced. The Range of Prices. The speculative demand undoubtedly existed in this sale, continued Mr. Moodie, and a fair quantity of the wools purchased passed into the hands of such buyers.
