MEMORIAL LIBRARY.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL

ERECTED BY OLD BOYS. OFFICIAL OPENING TO-MORROW. Erected to commemorate the diamond jubilee of the Auckland Grammar School, held in August, 1929, the new library building at the school will be officially opened to-morrow afternoon. A large attendance of Old boys of the school is anticipated, because it was through their generosity that the erection of the building was made possible. Over £1000 was subscribed by the old boys, and when that sum was handed over to the board of governors, a Government subsidy of £1000 was secured. The library is separate from the school, but ha 6 been constructed in the same structural style, to the design of Mr. W. A. Cumming.

At the gathering to-morrow the president of the Old Boys' Association, Mr. E. R. Davis, will ask Professor A. P. W. Thomas, chairman of the board of governors, to. accept the building from the old boys of the school. Professor Thomas' address will be followed by an address by Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, the headmaster, who will speak on the history of the library and its value to the school. On the presentation of the key by the architect, the official party will pass through a guard of honour formed by the boys of the school, and the building will be declared open by Professor Thomas.
