Since the Conquest the revenue of the kingdom was at its lowest in the reign of Henry VI., when it was only £04,970 per annum. It had decreased to that amount from £400,000 a year in the reign of William the Conqueror. The Railway Department, in conjunction with the Waikato Shipping Company, is now running an excursion trip to Waikato River from Auckland and back (via Mercer) on Sundays. Particulars are advertised.
