PROHIBITION ORDER ISSUED,

"Unfortunately; this young man has been mixing with men much older than himself, with the result that he is here to-day," eaid Mr. B. Goldwater when Ivan Stevens, 19, a labourer, appeared in the Police Court yesterday and admitted, charges of drunkenness in Hobsor Street and failing to quit hotel premises when requested to do so. The police eaid that a sergeant visited a hotel in Hobson Street at 5.55 on Saturday afternoon and there eaw accused under the influence of liquor. The barman told the sergeant that he had refused to serve Stevens. Stevens re--fused to leave the bar when told to do so by the barman, and he had to be ejected by the police. "Although he is only 19 he has two previous convictions for drunkenness, one in 1928 and the other in June laet, as well as a conviction for fighting," said Detective Sergeant Kelly. He suggested that Stevens should be prohibited. Counsel said Stevens was otherwise a decent, young fellow. He consented to a ■ prohibition order. The magistrate convicted and discharged Stevens.
