WILD WEST RODEO.

A large,, number of entries have been received for the competitions in the Wild West Rodeo, which will be held at Carlaw Park on Saturday afternoon. Patrons are assured of a programme of variety and thrills, two of the many attractions being the New Zealand buckjumping championship and the etcerriding championship. American cowboys will compete with New Zealand stockmen and Australian boundary riders. Every precaution has been taken to prevent the horses, mules, bullocks and other animals from breaking bounds. Owners of unbroken colts and outlaw horses are invited to bring the animaLs to the rodeo, where they will be ridden free of charge. A handicap woodchopping contest, to which a prize of £15 cash is attached, is also included in the programme. The event will be conducted under the rules of the Northern Athletic Union. John Aason, the world's tallest man, who measures over eight feet in height, will also make an appearance. Special interest will "be attached to the performance of Tux Hilton, American cowboy, rope spinner, fancy whip cracker and bowie knife thrower. The Devonport United Band will be in attendance. ■>
