Altogether, "Dix'.ana" was a very pleasant evening's entertainment, and one cannot. but. hope that it heralds the approach of a more human end artistic type of revue. Certainly the talking pictures offer great opportunities to producers of taste and enterprise, and there is no reason why a revue or extravaganza should not delight both ear and eye, and at the same time provide us with a story and characterisation*! not beyond the bounds of probability. "Dixiaiui" is most certainly a step in this much-to-be-desired direction, and holds forth fresh hopes, to those who have experienced only! too freely Hollywood's not inconsiderable capacity for inflicting disillusionment. ■ . . .
