RIFLE SHOOTING.

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB.

The fourth championship shoot at 800 and 900 yards was fired by the Auckland City Defence Rifle Club at Penrose last week-end. There was a poor attendance of marksmen, and those who were present found conditions very difficult, the strong right wind being very variable. H. Simmonds made a possible at 800 yards, the fifth club possible this season, and scored 44 with three "magpies" at the longer range, his score being easily top on the day. He and A. G. Robertson won a spoon each, the latter having the second best score on the range. Scores off the rifle were: H. Simmonds, 50 at 800 yds, 44 at 900 yds, total 94; A. G. Robertson, 46, 42—88; A. C. Watson, 47, 39—86; P. J. Pring, 42, 42—84; H. W. Cozens, 45. 39—84; J. A. Spry, 45, 36—81; C. J. M. Clark, 42, 38—80; W. H. Thompson, 41, 33—74; S. C. Wells, 40, 30—70; S. Griffiths, 37, 33—70; A. G. Degenkolbe, 39, 30—69; H. Collingwood, 38, 25—63. • The final championship shoot at the close ranges will be fired next Saturday,
