In an effort to raise funds for tlic pct'inancnt improvement of Quinton Park, and thereby create work for the unemployed in the suburb, the beautifying branch of the Bays water and Bclmont Progressive Association has decided to hold a gala. It will open on February 18, and continue for four days and nights.. , It is hoped that, as the. result, of the carnival, a considerable sum will be raised, and that the money will bo sub' ject to subsidies by both the Takapuna Borough Council and the Government. '" It was decided by the Waitemata Electric Power Board this morning to provide electric light for the evening sessions of the fixture free of charge, and also to arrange a cooking demonstration as an added attraction.
