DEVONFORT NAVAL BASE. TRANSFER RUMOUR DENIED. Rumours current in Auckland on Saturday that the Government had decided to shift the naval base at Devonport to Wellington were officially denied this morning. The matter was referred to the Hon. J. G. Cobbc, Minister of Defence, who stated: "Any rumour of the transfer of the naval base from Devonport to Wellington has no foundation in fact."
