CHOICE OF CANDIDATES.
LABOUR PARTY NOMINATIONS. .AUCKLAND CITY SEATS. ■ No time is- being lost by Official Labour- in selecting its candidates for the next general election. As far as the Auckland city seats are concerned., selection ballots were necessary in certain cases, and although secrecy as to the result is being preserved, insistent reports are current that the nominees for the three outstanding constituencies —Grey Lynn, Auckland East and Eoskill—have been chosen. ' It is understood that the candidature of Mr. J. A. Lee, formerly M.P. for Auckland East, lias been endorsed for the Grey Lynn scat, and that Mr. F. W. Schramm, an Auckland solicitor, will carry the Labour banner in the contest for Auckland East against tho Hon. J. B. Donald, Postmaster-General. Mr. J. Hoole is mentioned as tho selected standard bearer of Labour for Roskill. Mr. »Lee sat in Parliament from 1922 until 1928. when he was defeated by the Hon. J. B: Donald by 37 vote-?. " Mr. Schramm unsuccessfully contested the Hamilton seat in 1928, filling third place and polling 2123 votes. Official Endorsements. Manukau: Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. Hauraki:;Mr. C. 11. Pctrie. Wellington Suburbs, Mr. T. Brindle; Wellington North, Mr. C, H. Chapman, M.P.J Wellington South, Mr. R. McKeen, M.P.; Wellington East, Mr. R. Scrapie, M.P.; Wellington Central. Mr. P. M.P.; Hutt, Mr. W. Xash, M.P.: Otaki' Mr. J. Thorn. Buller: Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P. Mr. Anderton unsuccessfully contested the Eden seat at the last general elec.tior, .filling third position and polling 2241 votes in a four-cornered contest For Parnell in 1928 Mr. Yarnall polled 1661 votes, and also' took third place. Mr. Osboriic.had a similar experience in the Waitemata contest, in which his votes totalled 245-5. In the Hauraki voting Mr. Petrie was third also, with 2411 votes.
