WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.

BABER—COOKE. At St. James' Church, Auckland, the wedding was celebrated on Boxing Day, of Helen Jane Cooke,. second daughter of •'Mrs. W. M. Cooke, of Sandringham, and the late Mr. TV. M.'Cooke, to Mr. Grantly James Baber, eldest son of the late Mrs. H.x Baber ■and Mr. H. Baber, of Huntly. The ceremony' was /oleinnised by the Rev. Harries. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr. .'Arthur Cooke, was charmingly gowned in ivory satin with ankle length skirt. Her veil was of Brussels lace and ■ was caught to the head with orange blossom -and she carried shower bouquet of .Christmas lilies, "sweet peas and carnations. In attendance were Miss Norah" Cooke, sister of the bride, as chief bridesmaid, and Miss' Olive Trembath, 'who Wore frocks of- pale pink and blue georgette respec-. tivelV, with ankle -length skirts and cape collars. Both wore picture hats to tone and€ilver shoes, and carried shower bouquets of shaded flowers. The bndearooni was attended- by Mr. Harold Alvey, as best man, and Mr. Gordon Cooke as-groomsman. A reception was afterwards held in the Domain lea Kiosk, where Mrs. .Cooke received her quests in a black satin, gown trimmed with beige crepe de chine and a black hat. The marriage of Miss Florence'Schiavi, 'second.daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W Schiavi, of Princess Street, Palmer.ton North, William James Wilson, formerly-.-pf Auckland, was celebrated at St. Andrew's Church, Talmerston, on New Year's Eve. The Rev. G. Brown officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful frock of cream lace; with tight-fitting bodice, caught with diamante at the back, long sleeves, the skirt draped over the hips and falling to a train. Her veil of cream Brussels.lace was caught at'the back of the head and finished. at the sides with' a spray of orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of Christmas >hlies and a white satin horseshoe. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. 'J. Campbell, as matron of honour, and Miss Rita Wilson, sister of the bridegroom, attired in. ankle-length frocks of green and pink georgette respectively, with tWit-fitting bodices, lace yokes and very full flared'skirts, vandyked with lace. They wore tulle hats to match their frocks, and , carried shower bouquets of roses" and carnations. Mr. D. Wilson was best man and Mr. W. Hall groomsman/ Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Piccadilly. Mrs. Schiavi received her guests in a navy satin beaute frock, relieved with pink, a-nd hat to tone. St Stephen's Church, Ponsonby, was beautifully decorated yesterday afternoon for the wedding of Miss' Catherine Morison Torrance, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs; James Torrauce, of Heme Bay, to Mr. Harry Taylor-Frost, only son of Mr and Mrs. H. Frost, of Gillies Avenue, Epsom. The Rev. Angus McDonald, performed the ceremony, and Mr. W. Ji. Simpson presided at the organ. Enteriri* the church with her father, the bride woce a gown of ivory georgette, inset with lace, .which fell in flowing lines to the ankles. A small wreath and ear clusters of orange blossom held the beautiful Brussels lace veil in place, and ehe carried a shower bouquet of pastel pink and white, blossoms. The bridesmaids in attendance wer.e the Misses Leila Mercer and Eileen Taylor, who wore frocks fashioned and toned alike in. colour. DAVIE-MARTIN—TAYLOR. The marriage of Miss Daisy Lena Taylor, eecond eldest daughter of Mr. and Mre, Taylor, of Mangere, to Mr. Leslie Keith Davie-Martin, .was celebrated at the Presbyterian Church. Onehunga, on December 31. The Rev. Scott officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of ivory georgette with lace panela falling .'to angle length. Her embroidered tullo Veil was held in place with clusters of" orange blossom and she carried a shower bouquet of white dahliaroees and gladiolus. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Ruby Taylor, sister of the bride, and Miss Phyllis Taylor, cousin of the bride, who wore jade green georgette frocks' with pink crinoline hats and carried bouquets of roses -and 'sweet peas. The bridegroom was attended'by Mr. Roy Davie-Martin as best man and Mr. Henry Taylor as groomsman. The reception was held at the Oriental Rendezvous, Mangere. The wedding was celebrated on Monday last of Vera Winifred May, eecond daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hewson, of .Paeroa, late of Whangarei, and Stanley .James, ✓elder son of. Mr. and Mrs. J. Douglas, View Road, Mount Eden. The ceremony took place in the. Salvation Army Hall, Paeroa. The tasteful decorations were ■ in, pale mauve, pink and green, with, a large white wedding bell and green ferns. Adjutant Fraser conducted the service. The bride, who was. given away by her father, was attired in a frock of pale pink crepe de chine and georgette with tight-fitting bodice, the full pleated ekirt dipping slightly atthe back. Her pink tulle, veil was embroidered in silver and was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. -She carried* a shower bouquet. Miss Zeta Hewson, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and wore a frock _ of lavender crepe de chine, with tight fitting bodice, with full petal skirt dipping slightly at the back. Beautiful .mauve hydrangea and roses were used for the decorations at the Synagogue last evening, when the wedding" was solemnised of Miss Raie Meltzer, youngest daughter of Mrs. D. Meltzer, of Heme. Bay, to Mr. Jack.Markham, of Hamilton. Under a canopy of crimson velvet and gold bullion trimming, the service was celebrated" by the Rev. 1.. Goldstein. Mr. and Mrs. A. •Meltzer," of Wellington, gave the bride away, the oridegroom being given away by Mr. and Mrs. D. Markham, of Wellington. The bride wore a graceful gown of ivory Satin beaute; the only trimming was cross stitched bands of satin at the "waist line, and falling in soft folds to the ankles. The exquisite Brussels lace veil (which was an heirloom, and loaned by Mrs. Markbam, of Wellington), was caught at the ears with clusters of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of white flowers. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Rita Markham, of Wellington, was in pastel pink rosebud floral chiffon, made in flowing lines, and ankle length. A summer felt pink hat and pink sheaf of flowers completed a dainty toilette. The second maids Were Freda Jaffe and Valda Markham. Frilled, pink rosebud organdies", with lace edgings, and organdie poke bonnets were picturesque, and pink sheafs were carried.' The little page, Neville Meltzer, was in a deep cream satin Beau Brummel suit, with .high satin hat. Mr. Cecil Shenkin was best man. The canopy bearers were. Messrs. P. Collinson, J. Jaffe, S. Mishkin, and M. Robinson. Tho wedding reception was held at Romano's Cabaret, the "'tables and hall being a bower of- cerise sweet peas and dainty foliage. The bride's mother received the guests in a black Cha'ntilly lace and ninon, with a black Bangkok" hat, with ospreys, and she carried a rose and mauve bouquet. Mrs. D. Markham wore black lace and georgette, black Bangkok hat, and a red rose bouquet was carried. Mrs. ■A. Meltzer was in midnight blue lace, with a hat to tone: Mrs. L.
