MAIN HIGHWAYS.

TOUR OF THE BOARD. INTEREST IN NORTHERN ROADS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Main Highways Board proposes to make a tour of the North Auckland district after its meeting on January 28. One of the principal matters to be looked into is the provision of an allweather road between Auckland and Whangarei. Contract operations on a large scale have been carried out for the last year or two, and last season the road was made an all-weather one as far as Warkworth. The question the board will investigate is the linking up of the metal between Warkworth and Maungaturoto, and, when this is accomplished, a metal road will exist between Auckland and Whangarei.
