SUBSTANTIAL RESULTS EXPECTE

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, Monday. Carnival week in Rotorua lias ended and business as usual is the rule to-day. The weather generally was splendid. On January 2 rain marred the success of the athletic sports, but all other outdoor gatherings were enjoyed under splendid conditions. The procession on New Year's Eve was one of the best ever seen in Rotorua, and the streets were thronged with gay crowds in the holiday spirit. The supporters of the carnival queens have entered i'nto" the spirit of competition with considerable enthusiasm, and have thus added much to the isest ot the general celebration.. It is yet too early to forecast the amount of money which will be raised for the purpose of beautifying the town, but the indications are that the total will be substantial.
