OBITUARY.
MR. J. A. RILEY,
The death occurred at his residence 5, Codrington Street," Arch Hill, on December 25, of Mr. James Agley Riley, at the age of 77 years. He came from Bradford to New Zealand with his wife in the sailing ship Hudson in 1879. He landed at Wellington, afterwards settled at Bulls, in the Rangitikei. A,few years later he left there to. go into business at Ilaleombe at his trade as a butcher, residing there for some years." He left there to enter into the sawmilling industry. Several years later he joined the Public Works on the main trunk line, being engaged in the cement works on the bridges. On the completion of this® line he was transferred to Te Puke r Bay of Plenty, from which place he retired on superannuation to take up his residence 'in Auckland. Mr. Riley was a member of the U.A.O.D. Druids of Marfan. He leaves a widow, Mrs. A. A. Riley, of 5, Codrington Street, Arch Hill, and' four daughters, Miss F. A. Riley and 'Mrs. M. Wiggins, of Auckland, and Mrs. Peter Grant and Miss E. Riley, of Te Puke. The funeral took place at Waikumete, the ceremony at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. T. B. Wooloxall.
