Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Overton, of London, are staying at Hotel Stonehurst. Mr. Justice Blair is spending his New Year holidays at Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. Rich, of Christchurcli, are staying at Hotel Cargen. Mr. W. Waddel, C.8.E., Superintendent of the State Advances Office, and Mrs. Waddel, who have been staying in Auckland, left this morning for a motor tour of the. Far North. The Hon. A. J. Stalhvorthy, Minister of Health, arrived .in Auckland this morning from Wellington. The Minister will return to headquarters to-morrow night. Mr. G. T. Gray, oi Heme Bay, who is shortly to join the staff of the Punjab Mission of the Presbyterian Church as an industrial worker, and Mrs. Gray, left for Sydney by the Marama yesterday, en route to India. He will be stationed at the Union Industrial School at Saharanpur. Mr. C. R. S. Barrett, manager of the Invercargill branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, retired on superannuation this week. Mr. Barrett commenced his banking career at the Dunedin North branch of the National Bank in 1889, later acting as bank manager ii. Riverton, Gore and Invercargill,
