HARVESTER'S DEATH.
SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT
FALL IN PATH OF MOWING KNIFE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) • BLENHEIM, this day. As a result of the harvesting accident which occurred on Sir. H. J. Gluyaa' property, at Grassmere a fortnight ago Mr. James Smyrl, a single man, aged 30, died at the Wairau Hospital to-day. When mowing grass a horse team started to move off. Mr. Smyrl rushed to _ check them and was knocked down in. the path ,of a mowing knife. He was' dragged about eighty yards. A child on the machine had the presence of mind to. pull the knife out of gear, but the steel fingers of the guard struck Mr. Smyrl on the head and back, fracturing his skull.' Acute infective, meningitis set in with fatal consequences.
