STOLEN RECORDS.
FARMER' ADMITS THEFT.
REMANDED TILL .TUESDAY; >
Charged with the theft of 14 gramophone records valued at over £3, Thomas Louis O'Neil, a farm manager, aged 42, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. He pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said accused had left the farm' where he was working at Hobsonville on December 23, and took the records away with him. It was hard to understand his actions. Mr. Alan Smythe, who appeared for accused, said the man'had given them to a friend, who sold them to a dealer, not knowing that tiiey had been stolen. The orily question at issue was the recovery of the records,' and counsel understood that that would be an easy matter. "The only question at issue is whether he is fined £5 or whether I send him to gaol for 14 days," said the magistrate, O'Neil was remanded until next Tuesday, so that the records can be recovered in the meantime.
