TO TERMINATE.
PARTY ALLIANCE.
South African Move to Cancel Pact.
LABOUR AND NATIONALISTS.
{United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright)
(Received 1.30 p.m.) Capetown, January 2. A conference of the South African Labour party carried a resolution declaring that the continuance of the pact between that party and the Nationalists is no longer in the in-terests-of'Labour, and calling on the executive to terminate the alliance before next January. The resolution was carried in the face of a strong speech by Mr. Creswell, the leader of the party, who declared that the termination of the pact before 1934, when the next general election would fall if the present Government lasted its full term, would be politically dishonest. It is not improbable that Mr. Creswell may solve his personal problem by quitting the Labour party and declaring himself a Nationalist.
