A CHOCOLATE SCONE.
This is a new discovery, and is made in the following manner: 41b flour, 1 level teaspoonful carbonate of soda, J teaspoonful cream of tartar, 2 to 3oz ground chocolate, 1 teaspoonful vanilla essence, butter the size of a walnut, 1 tablespoonful sugar (or to taste), 1 beaten egg. Proceed as before, adding the beaten egg when nearly all the milk has beeu used. Decorate the top with blanched almonds and bake.
