VISITORS LEAD.
The prize-money at the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting was well distributed. Visitors captured most of it, most successful of the local owners being Mr. W. Johnstone. • Mr. "J. W Murphy, of Wellington, whose horses are trained by 0. S. Donald at Belfast, won £1032 10/ in stakemoney, Carmel earning £1347 10/ and Baron Bingen £285, while in addition Carmel won a gold cup valued at £50. Mr. G. J. Barton, won £977 10/ with Free Advice, Surprise Journey and Country King, who are trained by W. J.. Tomkinson at Addington. Messrs. Deyell and Neale, of Christchurch, won £775 with Red Shadow, trained by J. Bryce at Hornby. Other winners of amounts over £300 were: M r - J- H. Lloyd, of Hastings, £555 and a gold cup valued at £50, won by Raima; Mr. A. Anderson, of Canterbury, £525 with Sir Author; Mr. W. Joliiistone, of Te Awamutu, £525, 'with Enawah; Mr. James McDonald, of Wellington, £455, with Glenrossie; Mr. H. F. Nicoll, of Ashburton, £450 withWrackler Arethusa; Mr. H. A. Swaffield, of Papatoetoe, £420 with Gold Treasure; Mr. S. G. Larcom, of Hawera, £400 with Kolmar; Messrs. S. M. Kelly and T. H. Morrison, of Wellington, £395 with Maxegin; Mr. E. J- Stirling, of Auckland, £350 with Benefice; Mr. R. A. McMillan, of Tamahere, £350 with Machine Gun; Mr. D. Brideson, of Auckland, £335 with Jewel-Pointer; and Mr. T. M. Robertson, of Auckland, £305 with Nella Dillon. ■ C. S. Donald, with four wins and one dead-heat, was the most successful trainer and driver. R. A. McMillan and L. 0. Thomas each drove three winners and the following two each: A. W. Broughton, J. Bryce, A. Bryce and A. J. Julian. W. J. Tompkinson drove one winner and one dead-heater, and M. Holmes, W. Hughes, J. A. Gerrard and J. T. Paul one winner each. It was remarkable that with a total of 24 races on the programme the number of winning drives should be confined to 12.
