SPEEDBOAT RACING.
MASPORT CUP CONTEST. J. AND J. WINS AGAIN. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WANGANUI, this day. The chief feature of the Wanganui River carnival yesterday was the race for the iMasport Cup, which was retained by Messrs. Aldertou Bros.' speed boat, J. and The race throughout was highly exciting, J. aud .7. and .lelo racing practically neck and neck all the way. On the last lap J. and J. forged ahead, finally winning by l'i minutes from Jelo. Brian Armstrong's Chris Craft was third. The Auckland boat, Spot, did not start. The contest was the best since the carnival was inaugurated some six years ago. The Helean Cup, for boats over 25 miles per hour, resulted in a win for Chris Craft. Bee Jax, owned by A. Woodman, of Wellington, crossed the line first, but was dig qualified as the speed exceeded that the conditions specified.
