BIPLANE CRASHES.

PILOT SLIGHTLY. HURT,

GISBORNE, Thursday.
A mishap occurred to a Commercial Airways aeroplane at WaipiVo Bay this afternoon, as the result of which the pilot, Mr. J. Buckeridge, was taken to the Te Puia Hospital with a cut above one eye. His injury is not serious. The aeroplane .was considerably damaged. The machine, a Spartan biplane, left Gisborne about 2 o'clock for the coast, to undertake- passenger flights. Mr. Frank Petre, of Wellington, was a passenger. On arrival at Waipiro Bay the aeroplane was about to.land-on the beach, when it stalled and struck an empty house, igotly occupants were thrown out, but Mr. Petre was not injured.
