SHIPPING AT LONDON,

RUGBY, January 1. In spite of the world-wide trade depression, 800,000 net registered tons more shipping used the Port of London during the' nine months ended September, 1930, than during the corresponding period of the orevious year, which established a record. The Port of London Authority, which has just completed a programme of new works costing £5,000,000, which considerably improved the port's facilities, recently took 5 per cent off the port rates on foreign imports and exports. It also reduced dock rates on shipping by Id per net registered ton.
