British Crew Awaken to Find
Ship Ransacked.

What resembles the plot in one of Mr. W. W. Jacobs' stories was disclosed in all . seriousness when the British ship Timberham, 1546 tons, berthed at Blyth Harbour on her arrival from Belgium.
The.crew said they had retired to their bunks on Christmas Eve, when all was shipshape. They woke up next morning "and found that the ship had been ransacked.,'- '
Captain Jones added that his vessel was in a state of chaos. The furniture and gear were scattered, ami provisions and clothing stolen. He believes that the officers and crew were doped by a mysterious drug sprayed -through keyholes by thieves who drew alongside in the course of the night.
An official of the Seamen's Union says robberies of British sailors in Belgian ports are becoming common.
