BARCLAY'S BANK.
SUCCESS IN CANADA
FIRST YEAR'S. OPERATIONS
The Barclay's Bank (Canada), the first affiliiate of one of the larger British banking institutions to locate in Canada, has met with success in its first year of operation in the Dominion. At the conclusion of the annual meeting, Sir Robert Borden, president, stated that the progress made had quite fulfilled all expectations, and bearing this out is the proposal to open branches in the. important centres in Canada. Commencement will be made, it was announced, with the opening early in January of a branch in Toronto.
The opening of Barclay's Bank (Ganada) in Montreal a year ago was a ■widelyacclaimed event in financial circles because of its indication of the closer interest in Canadian business being taken by an oldestablished and powerful British banking house. The Canadian institution is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Barclay's Bank of London, recognised as one of the "Big Five" of British banking houses.
