WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB.

THE SUMMER MEETING. REVIEW FOR TO-MORROW. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Principal interest to Wellington racegoers over the New Year is*the Wairarapa Racing Club's summer meeting, which opens at Tauhevenikau to-morrow and concludes on Saturday. The fields are exceptionally large in all events and the racing should be interesting. Electric Handicap. In the Electric Handicap Hunting Call and First Money, who have not yet raced during the holidays, will carry confident support, and they will be worthy opponents for Coon Song and Silver Coot. The best efforts may come from Hunting Call and Coon Song. Featherston Hack. The field for the Featherston Hack Handicap is not particularly strong, and Arikira, who has won at his only two starts, and Rothen read to have much the best prospeccs. The JohneenProjection bracket and Eifczquex are also possibilities. It is dirticult, however, to ■ go past Arikira and Rothen. Nursery Handicap. In the Nursery Handicap Golden Wings is much the best performed youngster, but improvers in St. Roger, Teller, Porlock and Acorn will keep him busy. Aeis, on track work, also needs consideration. With a good start the winner may come from Golden AY ings or the Teller-Buster Brown bracket. The Cup. Historic, with B. H. Morris in the saddle, is a possibility in the Wairarapa Cup in spite of his 10.4, but three other form horses, White Fang, Royal Parade and Arrow Lad are preferred to him. Among the others Admiral Drake is the likeliest. On paper the pair who read best are the staMe mates White Fang and Royal Parade. Champion Hack. The distance of the Champion Hack Handicap will suit Straight Course, who is in excellent form at present, but if he is beaten ones to succeed may possibly be Tripping, Hawkshaw, or the Adventus-Jayson bracket. Preference is for Straight Course and the AdventusJayson bracket. Wardell Handicap. With Arrow Lad an almost certain starter in the Cup," the field for the Wardell Handicap is left without any real top-weight, and Arikinui, who heads the remainder, is as likely as any to succeed. Most opposition for him will probably come from Noteworthy and Maui. A good pair are Arikinui and Noteworthy. Wharekaka Hack. Form recently shown does not assist much in the solution of the Wharekaka Hack Handicap, but Portray, Pixie Gold and Sharp Thorn are improvers who should run fair races. Grey Mist is a possibility among the others.' Perhaps the best will be Portray and Pixje Gold. Novice Stakes. The Novice Stakes, for horses that have not won at time of startfng, contains few with any pretensions to outstanding ability,, but ~two who, have shown some promise are Cessation and Kalmuk. Joie de Val arid Gold Sand appear- to be the best of the remainder. The final preference will probably be for Cessation and Kalmuk.
