PHYSICAL TRAINING.
MT. EDEN BOYS' INSTITUTE
STARTING THE NEW YEAR.
The boys of the Eden electorate have never, up to the present, had the opportunity of obtaining the benefits of a physical -training institute, but the New Year promises to supply this need in generous form. The Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, has accepted the office of patron of the institute, and has promised his active assistance. A citizens' committee is being formed, and. Mr. E. Bridgens.of Prospect Terrace, has generously offered a large training Ball rent free. Mr. H. Hogg, physical director of Leys Institute, Ponsonby, has also generously offered his services free of charge. The general objective of the institute ■will be to give the boys a better alternative to dissipating their leisure time in idle roaming of streets, and worse, by providing the fullest opportunity for physical culture under scientific direction. The Minister said to-day that he attaches a great deal of importance to healthy sportsmanship among both girls and boys. Many of life's most useful lessons were learned in this wsiv.
