AT WELLINGTON.
GAME AGAINST OTAGO. HOME SIDE'S HEAVY SCORE. A CENTURY TO McGIRR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Otago was resumed in weather this morning. The position 'of the game wais that Wellington, who had a first, innings lead of 28, had 197 runs on Tor three wickets in'their second Innings. McGirr and Lowry continued Wellington's second innings to the bowling of Dunning and Blunt. Both batsmen were aggressive, being particularly severe on Dunning. McGirr rapidly ran into the nineties,- but from , then on Lowry saw most of the bowling and scored freely, while McGirr spent some time short of his century. The firet two hundred runs took 160' minutes. ■ With two powerful boundary strokes off Blunt ■ McGirr reached hia hundred after batting" 148 minutes.- Both'batsmen carried on merrily and 250 appeared on the board after the innings had been in progress 200 minutes, McGirr and Lowry having added 103 for .the fourth wicket. When McGirr reached 123 it was one better than hie previous best Plunket Shield score. Badcock and Lemin relieved the first two bowlers, but the change had little effect on the scoring and, Alloo later relieved Badcock. McGirr Out for 14 1 - Alloo at last■ succeeded in taking.McGirr's wicket. McGirr had batted 190 minutes and had hit twelve foure. 300—4—-141. The' scoring slackened appreciably after'McGirr left, most of the runs coming off Lowry'e bat- Alloo and Blimt were bowling well and . seoring was not easy. Neither McLeod nor Lamason lasted long,-but Crook opened brightly.' With the score at 320 Lowry played a ball from Blunt .on to his stumps. He had batted very soundly and on the whole forcefully, innings being a valuable one for his eide. He hit six fours.
