FLAXMILL REOPENS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKBKOHB, Thursday. With most of the Dominion fkxmills closed down owing to unsatisfactory market conditions, it is pleasing to record that the flaxmill at Mangatawhiri, owned by the Provincial Flax Growers and Millers' Association, Ltd., is again working, giving employment to 11 men. Discussing the present outlook for flax fibre,, the managing director of the company, Mr. J. Dean, said the stock position was reassuring, and he considered there was every likelihood of the demand improving. His company was at present executing an order for 500 tons of fibre and this had led to restarting the mill. The employees had met the position as regards price in a practical manner, their operations being on a piecework basis. *
