GOLDEN WEDDING.
MR. AND MRS. J. W. POOLEY.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Pooley, of 18, Grahame Street, Cityj celebrated their golden wedding yesterday. The reception ■ was held at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Constance, at Ellerton Road, Mount Eden. They were married on Christmas Day, 1880, by the; Rev. Joseph Robertson. Mr. Pooley came to Auckland with his parents in the ship Eagle's Speed, which arrived on October 16, 1864, after a passage of 136 days from London. He is a Wood-carver by occupation and for almost 25 years he was employed by the Waitemata Sawmill Company as carver arid ornamental woodworker* He Was the pioneer of the camping movement on Raiigitoto, and for 20 years was caretaker to the Rangitoto Domain Board, from which position, he resigned about three years ago. Mrs. Pooley Was born in Auckland, and Was the fourth daughter of the late William Morrow and Annie Taylof. Mr. and Mrs. Pooley have four children —Mr. A. W. f. Pooley, of Ponsonby; Mrs. A. J. Evans and Mrs. S>. H. Jarvis, of Sydney; and Mrs. H. of Mount Eden.
