ADDINGTON NOTES.

LEFT FOR AUCKLAND

C. S. DONALD'S TEAM

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.")

CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday

C. S. Donald will have a team of eight horses for the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting made up of the pacers Camel, Sir Author, Sir Guy, Baron Bingeu, Tony Victor, and the trotters Kempton, Tonic, and Writer. They went north to-night. Iu "view of the large number of meetings to be held at Christmas and New Year time a number of horses are now being sent along in their training work at Addington, but nothing of a particularly fast nature is being accomplished. Nelson Boy raced on the first day of the renent Forbury Park meeting, but was not started oil the second day. He is now enjoying a spell in the paddock and may not be raced for some time. Halswell Queen is so far standing up to her work under J. Davidson's charge. She is a very useful pacer, who will be raced on the' West Coast if she remains sound. Muriel do Oro is still being kept going, but she does not seem to put much dash into her work. She trained off a few months ago and is not yet back to her best form.

Bay Nut did not race well at New Brighton last week although ho looked in good shape. He is working well at Addington and may do better in his' next attempt. The trotter Welcome Guy, who is expected to take high honours next eeason, is looking in fine order and is trotting in jrreat style in his work. W. J. Tomkinson is a busy man at present, and he has a large number of horses in work who will be racing at various meetings near at hand. Red Rey has improved a good deal since he was put into work at Addington, and he will be racing at the Canterburr Park Club's meeting. Salient went sore eome time ago and had to be given a spell. A. Cox has just taken the pacer in hand again, but he looks as though it will take some time to get him ready to race. Vendome looks in fine order at present. She was responsible for a _ fine performance in the Courtenay Handicap, in which ehe finished 6econd to Harold Logan in a fast run two-mile event. Vendome has usually been regarded as best over sprint courses, but it is quite evident that when at her beet she is capable of a high grade two-mile effort.
