CHINESE FINED £25. DEPORTATION ORDER MADE. A fine of £25, in default three months' imprisonment, "was imposed by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court this morning on Low Kow, who pleaded guilty to a charge of overstaying his permit in New Zealand. Accused was ordered to , be deported. " The Collector of Customs, who prosecuted, said that accused had been in the country three years, which was two years and a half over the time allowed by the permit. He had. been dodging about the country, and had subsequently "been traced' to a garden in Hastings, where he was employed. Mr. Kayee said that accused had been "sticking" here waiting until his brother was ready tc return to China. Low Kow had no money, but his brother was prepared to pay the fine.
