WOMAN SUES BOROUGH.
INJURED IN MOTOR CRASH
ALLEGATION OF NEGLIGENCE,

HAMILTON, this day. On the night of January 16 a car containing five people, who were being driven from Ngaruawahia to Hamilton, crashed into a cart belonging to tlie Ngaruawahia Borough Council. One ot the passengers, a young woman named Lilian Ivilgour, of Auckland, who was employed as a milliner in Hamilton, was severely injured, and to-day she sued the Ngaruawahia Borough Council for £051 1/ damages. The statement of claim set out that plaintiff was a passenger in a car driven by William John Service. The car was Oil its correct; side of the road. ' A servant of the defendant council, Charles Ernest Bruntou, had left unattended, on the wrong side of the road, a cart that was insufficiently lighted; It was struck by the car, and plaintiff was seriously injured. It was contended that the cart was not equipped with an efficient Jight, and that its driver failed' to take reasonable precautions to prevent a collision. Plaintiff, as the result of the collision, received a Severe fracture of the base of her skull, concussion, laceration of 1 one ear channel, and severe shock. She was unable to continue work as a milliner, and was incapacitated from January 10 until Aprn 14. Plaintiff, giving evidence, said that in consequence of the accident she suffered from severe headaches and ear trouble, necessitating regular use of a syringe. She was unconscious for ten days, spent a month in hospital, and was under spccial treatment for six weeks.
