SCHEME OF IMPROVEMENTS

HARBOUR AND PLAY AREA,

An open-air meeting convened by Mr. T. L. Thompson, commodore of the Rich, mond Cruising Club, was held last night when residents of Heme Bay and Richmond attended to hear an explanation of th© proposed improvements at Cox's Creek inlet by the provision of a boat harbour and playing area. Two city councillors were present, Mr. J. Donald and Mr. W. H. Murray. The member for Grey Lynn, Mr. J. S. Fletcher, also attended. The convener said the scheme had been under consideration for some time and it was thought that the time was opportune for putting the work in hand, ae it would find employment for men who were in distress. Messrs. Murray and Donald supported the proposal and urged the residents to take an active interest in it. Mr. Fletcher said subsidies were still available from the Government to local bodies for unemployment work. It was decided that a deputation should approach the City Council next Thursday in reference to the carrying 6ut of the scheme.
