SENIOR CONTROL PLAN
SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CLUB
Representatives of the Ellerslie and Otahuhu Rugby League Clubs last evening met the special committee regarding the new senior control, and the question of,finalising an amalgamation to include also Mangere, Papatoetoe and Papakura was eventually held over until next w r eek. Mr. George Rhodes, chairman of the A.R.L., again presided. Mr. K. Lippiatt said that if it was possible the name of the clubs merging in the area should be "Southern Districts," rather than eastern district. Mr. Sternly stated that Ellerslie were fully seized with the wisdom of the proposed change, as they already had a senior team and there would be little .difficulty in both . strengthening that and fielding a strong reserve side. The change hinged' on the best way of bringing the movement into effect. Mr. Lippiatt personally agreed that it was reasonable to regard Ellerslie as the centre, for the time being, at any rate. When the adjournment was decided, to allow the clubs involved to arrange amalgamation details, the chairman complimented the delegates on the fine spirit shown, and Mr. Lippiatt expressed confidence that a full meeting and favourable report would be the result.
