Business on the local Stock Exchange continues fair, with recent values well ■ maintained in most instances. The bank- ' ing section is definitely firmer, and sales ' late yesterday and early this morning ' were all at higher levels. ... New Zealand Insurances, after a steady demand at £2 1/6, have moved up, and •>sales were made this morning at £2 1/9 and £2 2/, after which the higher figure ' was still being offered. In the miscellaneous section Colonial Sugars are in better demand, with buyers - at £33. Thames Theatres were asked for at 11/6. For Mpturoa Oils bids stopped at 4/6. The Noon Call. Business was quite good this morning, ■ and at the noon call an unusual number of • fresh sales was recorded. The brighter tone evidenced during the last, day or two _ was emphasised in the prices paid and in the later quotations. Thus, for Mount Lyells, buyers advanced their limits to 20/9, for Colonial Sugars £34 was offered, and , for British Tobaccos £1 14/6. For New Zealand National ' Banks £5 13/ was offered. Best bid for New Zealand Insurance eased to £2 1/9. A'buyer offered 6/ for Waipa Collieries, and a parcel of Government 4% tax-free ■ Bonds was availably at £99 12/6. SALES COMPLETED.
