RICHFIELD'S SUCCESS.

FIRST WIN IN SYDNEY.

New Zealand trainer J. Cameron left his run rather lato during the A.J.C. epring meeting, but he made up for all reverses with Hunting Cry in the jj'inal Handicap (says the "Sydney Morning Herald"). G. Edgecombe, another Dominion mentor, who had been here some time and had found racing very expensive, tasted the fruits of victory with Eiclifield in the first division of the Highweight Handicap at Canterbury on October 22. In consequence of the horse's good fourth at Randwick on the previous Saturday, backers only wanted a lead from tho right quarter, and when this was forthcoming RicMeld firmed. Tub Warwick Farm-trained Accepted was the medium of outstanding support, while Cuneus also gained as the summing up continued. Gun Club was eagerly inquired for early, but eased to double figures. This did not affect his display. He jumped out- cleanly and opened up a satisfactory lead from Golden Grist, Opportune, Boaster, Accepted and Richfield. Gun Club was etill going easily into tho straight, and a few yardd further on many were anxious to support him. Riehffield,- however, had made up his ground gradually and securing a run entering the straight, won comfortably from Cuneus, .wlfb had no trouble in beating Gun Club over the last furlong.

ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. MELOS (Avondalc). —It would have made no difference if the ticket had been a 10/ one. He would have got the whole of the dividend just the same.
