WRESTLING.
OPEN AIR ATTRACTION,
LURICH TO MEET KOTSONAROS,
The novelty of wrestling in the open air is hkely to appeal to Auckland's sporting community, and the match between. George Kotsonaros, of Greece, and Tom Lurich, of Russia, to be staged by the New Zealand Wrestling Association on Saturday afternoon next, is likely to draw a record α-owd. The contest will take place at the Auckland Trotting Club's grounds, Alexandra Park* Epsom The- main stand has a seating Accommodation of 14,000, and special ring seats will also be'available on the | lawn. Amateur bouts will be staged for an hour from 2 .p.m., and the professional match will commence punctually at three o'clock. A band' will be in attendance to enliven the proceedings. • The match itself appears an attractive one. Kotsonaros beat Scotty McDougal at his. first Auckland appearance, and the second time -up ihe drew with George Walker, after one of the finestbouts ever seen in this country. The Greek has a wide repertoire of holds, but he specialises in his keylock, a hold that is capable of putting an opponent out of action for weeks if he does not submit. Lurich has met man in New , Zealand, George Walker, and on all three occasions he has been beaten, but the two meetings that the pair had at Auckland were ding-dtfng affairs. and in .both instances the win might ' easily have gone the- other way.
