APPLES ARE CHEAP. LEMONS DULL OF SALE. EGG PRICES UNALTERED. Apples are remarkably cheap for the time of year, and top price for Delicious, the popular dessert, is 6/6 per 401b case. At this time last year they were bringing up to 14/ and 15/. Unfortunately brown heart disease affected a quantity of this season's yield, and, although the Jines affected have all been disposed of ere this, tho sound fruit now coming from cool store seems to be viewed with suspicion. That fine double-purpose apple, the Sturmer, is bringing up to 8/, but that is low compared with last year's price of 13/. Pride of Australia is the most popular cooker at present, and Granny Smiths also have a ready sale. Oranges met a good demand at 13/ to 17/6 a case. Mandarins opened up in poor condition and realised 5/ to 9/. Loquats brought 8/6 to 9/6 a case, and passions 15/ to 18/. Island tomatoes, ex the Waipahi, brought 10/6 to 12/6/ A line of Califofnian grapes, Red Emperors, ex the Aorangi, realised 26/6 to 27/ per keg.

In pears, Nclis are in shorter supply and sell freely. Josephines are nearly finished, but there are still plenty of P. Barrys. Bananas are somewhat scarce and realise high prices. The demand, fol , lemons and local grapefruit is very disappointing to growers, and prices continue low. Supplies of citrus fruit jvere supplemented by fresh arrivals this morning from Australia.
