INCOME AXD EXPENDITURE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. To demonstrate the contention made by Mr. J. E. Makgill, in an address as chairman at the annual meeting of the Auckland Farmers' freezing Co., that the reward for labour and capital employed in farming is not receiving anything like the same remuneration as in other industries, the following statement has been compiled by a -well-known Hamilton resident from, the figures given by him. The figures are based on 2201b of butterfat per cow at 1/4J per lb:— Receipts.—66oolb butterfat, at 1/4J, £453 15/; calves and pigs, at £2 pe~r cow, £60; milk, etc., used" by household. £1 per week, £52; total, "£565 15/.' Expenditure.—lnterest on capital, £50; worth of land per cow, at 6i per cent, £97 10/; interest on capital for stock and plant, at £20 per cow, at 6J per cent, £39; working expenses, including upkeep, depreciation, power, topdressing, etc, at £5 per cow, £150; net income for year of 337 days, 10 working hoiu-s per day, 3370 hours, at 1/8 per hour (approximately £5 7/C per week), £279 5/j total, £565 15/. The following calculation is based on 2201b butterfat per cow, at 1/ per lb.
