TEAM CONGRATULATED. \ VALUABLE EXPERIENCE. ■ .New Zealand's representatives at the Bntieli 'Empire Games were entertained at. luncheon- yesterday by the Empire Games Committee. All the local sports organisations were represented at the gathering," which was presided over by Mr. L. A. Tracy, chairman of the committee. •'The.success of the team, whose performances stamp them as a great body of athletes, gave New Zealand very much satisfaction," declared Mr. Tracy. "During the past year or so there has been a gieat deal of criticism concerning international, and inter-Dominion tournaments, but I think the meeting at Hamilton has done a tremendous amount of good/' The Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, said he considered the side had done remarkably well,-.considering its size. The New Zcalanders, performances were u credit to the team itself and to the selectors. An New Zealand had not won the greatest r.uinb'er of points, it. was pleasing to see that it had been England, the motherland, which had been most successful. 'Mr. A. D. Bayfield, secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Assoeia- j tion, said that the hard work "of getting ( the team away had been well repaid by the results. In returning thanks, the manager of the team,, Mr. R. J. Hobbs, said the side felt that they had done fairly well, but it, .was good to kuow that oilier people thought the same.
